The tiara was created in 1881 as a gift from King Willem III to Queen Emma. In 1934, after the death of Queen Emma, the tiara was inherited by her granddaughter, Princess Juliana (who later became Queen). Queen Beatrix inherited the tiara after Queen Juliana abdicated in 1980. The tiara is currently owned by Queen Maxima and is one of her favorites.
