More Info :

One of the most notable additions to the Swedish royal jewellery collection in recent years, the Princess Sofia Palmette Tiara, was shown to the public for the first time in 2015. It was created specifically for the wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist. This unique piece reflected the royal family's view of brides and showcased a modern design.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia commissioned the tiara as a wedding gift. It featured small palmette motifs on a thin diamond band, with diamond dot decorations added in between. The original design had a rigid form and was topped with emerald peaks.

Years later, questions arose about the stones used in the tiara, altering its significance. It was suggested that one of Queen Silvia's emerald and diamond necklaces, received from a Thai prince, had been altered to create the tiara. There were rumors that the piece had been reworked in Thailand, but the specific necklace used was never confirmed.

Sofia wore the tiara again at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm after her wedding, pairing it with emerald earrings. However, as she preferred other diadems in the following years, the Palmette Tiara was not worn for a while.

By 2017, the tiara returned, completely refurbished. Sofia revealed a softer version of the piece at a gala in November that better matched the shape of her head. This new design did not have emerald peaks. Just weeks later, she showcased the tiara's versatility by wearing it with pearl peaks at the Nobel Prize ceremony.

The updated design provided a more fluid silhouette and, thanks to the interchangeable peaks, offered a much wider range of color and style options. As a result, the Palmette Tiara established its place in the Swedish royal collection as a modern, customizable, and often worn piece of jewellery.
